Tampa Bay has been a championship destination for many of the world's premier events having hosted or been awarded five Super Bowls, four NCAA March Madness selections, four NCAA Women's Final Four (2008. 2015, 2019, 2025), three NCAA Men's Frozen Fours (2012, 2016, 2023), two NCAA Women's Volleyball Championships (2009, 2023) multiple major soccer events, and 11 NCAA Division II Championships. Most recently, Tampa was the first city in the southeast to host the College Football Playoff National Championship in 2017, as well as the only city to host the Super Bowl and WrestleMania in the same calendar year (2021).
