National Bike to School Day
Broward Elementary’s Sidewalk Stompers’ program will celebrate National Bike to School Day on May 5th with Mayor Jane Castor
TAMPA, FL - Broward Elementary’s Sidewalk Stompers’ program will celebrate National Bike to School Day on May 5 with City of Tampa Mayor Jane Castor.
Students gathered at Rivercrest Park to get “warmed up” and get a few road safety tips from St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital Wellness & Safety Center before parading from the park to the school. Mayor Castor greeted the students at the school and helped Sidewalk Stompers reward participants with new bicycles and scooters.
“Bike to School Day recognizes the importance of giving children safe and healthy routes to school,” said Emily Hinsdale, President of Sidewalk Stompers. “Keeping kids active and engaged in their community helps not just their own health, but the health of our whole city. We are delighted to have Mayor Castor join us to demonstrate Tampa’s commitment to Vision Zero, make safe mobility a goal for everyone and especially for our school children.”
Sidewalk Stompers’ bike and scooter rewards are made possible by a Tampa Bay Super Bowl Host Committee Forever 55 microgrant.
