FLORIDA FIREFIGHTER GAMES HEAT UP IN TAMPA

The 2010 Florida Firefighter Games began last week in Tampa Bay, and will run for two weeks, ending on May 8. For the next two weeks, 4,100 firefighters from throughout the state will compete in over 50 events at facilities located throughout Hillsborough County. The 2010 Games are expected to produce 1,500 hotel room nights for an estimated delegate spending of $3.8 million.

Events include competitions in billiards, bowling, bench press, cycling, darts, dodgeball, fishing, football, golf, hockey, poker, pull ups, soccer, swimming, track, table tennis, wrestling, and others. Fans, visitors and Tampa Bay residents are encouraged to come out and experience some of the action first-hand. The Tampa Bay Sports Commission works closely with Tampa Bay & Company and the community to attract, promote and organize major amateur sporting events, as well as grassroots youth sports programs that foster the ongoing development and quality of life for the entire Tampa Bay area.
