TAMPA, Fla. - The Stewards Foundation is pleased to announce that David F. Spraker, former Head Rowing Coach at The University of Central Florida and Head Coach of North Orlando Rowing will serve as Lead Coach for The Stewards Foundation’s junior program.
Dave will begin his new responsibilities July 1, 2013 according to Steve White, Director of Rowing. White added that “Coach Spraker brings together a wealth of experience and a history of developing fast crews”. “This past year as the Head Coach of North Orlando Rowing, his Varsity Women’s four were the silver medalist in the State Championships”. “In the SE Regional’s Coach Spraker’s women’s quad were the bronze medalist and competed in the Junior National Regatta in Oakridge Tenn.”. It should be noted that four of his athletes, (three women and one man) were invited to compete at The US Rowing Development camp this summer.
Coach Spraker began Rowing at The prestigious Philips Exeter School in New Hampshire and his senior year was named the most outstanding oarsman. According to Tom Feaster, Stewards Foundation’s High Performance Director, Coach Spraker is a level 3 certified coach and a student of our sport. “Also, Coach Spraker as a United States Marine learned the value of teamwork and responsibility. I am convinced our young people will better learn these qualities through his leadership”.
Coach Spraker’s goal this summer is to begin a High Performance Rowing Camp immediately with the goal of competing at a high level at The Halifax Regatta on July 27, 2013.
