World Tournament of Champions to Get Underway in Florida

PLANT CITY, Fla. – The ISF/ISSA World Tournament of Champions will get underway next week at venues in Plant City, Tampa and Hillsborough County in the Tampa Bay Region of Florida. The Managers Meeting will take place at the Host Hotel, Clarion Hotel Bush Gardens, 2701 E. Fowler Avenue, Tampa, FL 33612 at 7:00pm on Thursday night, January 24. Fifty-six senior teams from the United States and Colombia, South America will take the field Friday morning to begin the three day tournament. The slowpitch softball teams range in age classification from 50+ up to 80+ and represent the very best teams in their skill level division. Teams qualified to participate in the event based on their play in the seasonal ISSA tournaments and/or winning a National Championship tournament in one of the other softball associations.

Tampa Bay officials will be on hand on Thursday night to welcome the team managers to the second annual World Tournament of Champions. Teams will be provided ISSA softballs to use during the competition and “Welcome Packets” will also be distributed. All teams will be represented at the meeting to get the latest tournament information, speak with the tournament directors and learn about the exciting attractions that will be available to all participants and their guests during their visit.

Players and visitors who still need to make lodging arrangements can contact the Host Hotel to see if reservations are still available at their $59 per night rate. A complete list of other tournament hotels can be accessed from the ISSA Website ( There will not be an admission charge at any of the venues and spectators are encouraged to come out and watch some of the World’s best senior athletes in action. When the dust settles on Sunday afternoon eighteen division champions will be decided with the right to wear a WTOC Championship Ring. Tournament schedules will be posted on the ISSA Website this week and the game results will be updated on the Website throughout the event.
