Youth Soccer Scores A First For Tampa Bay

TAMPA, Fla. - For the first time, the Tampa Bay Sports Commission and the Florida Youth Soccer Association will host the U.S. Youth Soccer Region III President’s Cup in Tampa this weekend, June 8-10, 2007.

This event will feature more than 100 boy’s and girl’s teams from throughout the Southeast United States. Never before held in Tampa, this tournament will feature teams, ages 14 to 19, from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

The tournament kicks off on Friday, June 8 with the boy’s competition at the Ed Radice Sports Complex, 14720 Ed Radice Dr. in Tampa, and the girl’s competing at various fields at the University of South Florida, 4202 E. Fowler Ave. in Tampa. Finals will be held on Sunday, June 10 at both locations.

Admission and parking are free to attend both tournaments. Both locations will have concessions for visitors to purchase food and drinks.

“Having hosted several successful Florida Youth Soccer Association events over the past few years, Tampa has certainly worked hard to earn its reputation as a premier soccer destination,” said Jason Aughey, sports sales and events manager.
