America's Biggest Biggest Ballroom Competition Coming to Tampa

TAMPA, FL —Top international dancers will compete at the prestigious Millennium Dancesport Championships, June 23-27, 2015, one of the largest Ballroom and Latin dance competitions in the world.

At the Sports Commentators’ Desk will be Karina Smirnoff from Dancing with the Stars and other renowned ballroom champions, plus Olympic medalist figure skater, Michelle Kwan. Mary Murphy from So You Think You Can Dance will also be in attendance. They will be shooting footage for an American Sports Network special that will air across the country in July.

“I’m excited that the American Sports Network will feature dancesport on TV,” said MichaelChapman, Organizer. “They recognize that dancers are more thanartistic and beautiful: they are also highly trained endurance athletes. A ballroom dance competition is probably the most dazzling sport you’ll ever see.”

During the weeklong event, Pro/Am couples (professionals with  their students like on Dancing With The Stars) and youths compete during the day, while Professional couples and daytime finalists take to the floor in the evenings. More than $135,000 in cash and prizes is at stake. The event runs all day long, but spectators can come and go as they wish.

The competition is held at the Tampa Marriott Waterside Hotel & Marina. Day and evening tickets are still available:
